Northern Spain is perhaps one of the least known areas, but also one of the most interesting. Centuries of isolation have made it possible to maintain ancestral cultures, and to combine them with an almost wild nature, natural beaches and a truly special character of the people.
Moreover, it is a region where the mountains are “always there”. The combination of mountain culture and coastal area has built a paradise you can’t miss.

On this trip we propose a tour to discover some of the most impressive places in northern Spain.

This is a trip designed to enjoy the nature of northern Spain, but also the culture, history, architecture…
That is why, in this case, the hiking routes are simple, and are designed to be combined with other tourist activities.
Travel Plan
DAY 1
ARRIVING BILBAO
Arrival at Bilbao airport. Reception and arrival at the hotel. Possibility to visit Bilbao’s Gugenheim, depending on the time.
DAY 2
THE "FLYSCH"
We will visit the spectacular cliffs of the Flysch, with a history of more than 50 million years, large cliffs over 100 metres high, hidden coves and one of the largest tidal flats in Europe.
DAY 3
Reminding "game of thrones"
San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is a must-see when we visit the Basque Country. Many will
recognise it as the Rocadragon fortress from the seventh season of Game of Thrones. We will then travel to Cantabria, to the beautiful village of Comillas.
DAY 4
Altamira
We will visit the replica of the Altamira cave, one of the most important pictorial and artistic cycles of prehistoric times. We will
also visit Santiallana del Mar, one of the villages with the greatest historical and artistic value in Spain.
DAY 5
Gaudí and natural treasures
In the morning we will visit Gaudí’s “El Capricho” in Comillas, before heading to Asturias.
We will visit the cliffs and beaches of Asturias before heading to Cangas de Onis.
DAY 6
The Cares gorge
We will walk along the Cares route, one of the most important gorges in Europe. A simple path over the river will take us between mountains with more than 1000 metres of vertical drop above us.
DAY 7
BACK TO BILBAO
We will travel back to Bilbao, but not before visiting some surprises that await us on the way
Extras
There is the possibility of changing some of the scheduled activities, introducing some extra proposals such as the following:
- Descent of the Sella river by canoe
- Surfing class on the Asturian coastline
