FROM ASÓN TO EBRO
TRIP THROUGH THE ASÓN AND SOBA VALLEYS (CANTABRIA) AND MERINDADES (BURGOS)
We propose a hiking and nature trip through Cantabria and Burgos. Enjoy with us this experience of tourism and trekking through the valleys of Asón, Soba and Merindades.

We will show you some little known areas, as well as we will visit very interesting historical and cultural areas.
This is a trip with several hiking routes through Cantabria and Merindades, Burgos, in the north of Spain. Although it is not technically difficult, it is recommended to be used to physical activity.
Travel Plan
DAY 1
WE LEFT GIJÓN
Departure from Asturies to the hotel. It is a complete rural house. A Cantabrian Inn for which an old mountain house was restored. If you do not come from Asturias you can also come. Talk to us and we will look at options.
DAY 2
ASÓN's waterfall
Asón waterfall. This is a truly spectacular waterfall, some 70 metres high. This day is all about waterfalls, as we will also visit a very interesting waterfall in Soba, as well as an impressive torca. I don’t know if you know it, but the whole area is a caving paradise. And we will look out (just look out) to some of its most famous “holes”.
DAY 3
SOBA'S VALLEY
We will hike a mountain route through the high area of the Asón mountain passes. In my opinion, the place we are going to visit is worth the whole trip by itself. I don’t want to give you too many details, although we will include some photos in the description.
DAY 4
MERINDADES
We leave to Merindades, but not before doing a small mountain route around the Sía pass, with some really impressive views.
We will sleep in the area of Merindades, near Medina de Pomar, again in a complete rural house, with all the comforts, where we will spend the rest of the days of the trip.
DAY 5
ORBANEJA DEL CASTILLO
This day we have an intense activity in Orbaneja del Castillo and the canyons of the Ebro. We will combine a very cool route through the canyons of the Ebro with a really interesting village, where it seems that the water springs from the village itself.
DAY 6
HIKING IN MERINDADES
Once again, we will combine nature and culture. We will hike a mountain trekking route through the Merindades area, ending with a visit to the town of Medina de Pomar.
DAY 7
RETURN
Return. We will not return directly, but first we will stop to visit the collegiate church of Cervatos, a Romanesque temple that stands out for its erotic sculptures. You know that the representation of sexual scenes in medieval art is called erotic, and if it is modern, pornography…
