UNIQUE LOCATIONS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK
The Picos de Europa National Park is one of the oldest in Spain. A high mountain environment, internationally known for its steep slopes and steep walls.
It is rich in geology, but also in nature. From endemic species to leafy forests, from endangered birds such as the bearded vulture to the controversial wolf.

But nature is not all in Picos de Europa. This paradise would not be what it is without human presence. We will also visit some villages such as Posada de Valdeón, Arenas de Cabrales and Sotres and we will come across old sheepfolds and huts in the mountains.
And you will learn a little of the history of Picos de Europa. From the Neolithic period to the present day, this place has been inhabited by humans. You will also get to know details of what the National Park is all about, with its nuances, lights and shadows.
Travel Plan
DAY 1
WE LEAVE BILBAO
Pick up in Bilbao (optional in other locations) and arrival to Arenas de Cabrales
DAY 2
THE "RUTA DEL CARES"
We will hike the complete Cares Gorge, from Poncebos to Posada de Valdeon. It is perhaps the best known route in all of the Picos de Europa, and one of the most impressive gorges you have ever seen. An impressive trekking.
We will sleep at Posada de Valdeón
DAY 3
POSADA DE VALDEÓN - FUENTE DÉ
Hike from Posada de Valdeón to Fuente Dé. We will border the central massif of Picos de Europa, connecting the Leon area with the Cantabrian area. A beautiful journey alternating forests and views of the impressive mountain massif.
We will sleep in Espinama.
DAY 4
ESPINAMA - SOTRES
We will travel in the opposite direction to the usual a good stretch of what is known as the Ruta de la Reconquista. In this case we will go from Espinama to Sotres, crossing the Sotres valley, which divides the central and western massifs of the Picos de Europa.
We will sleep in Sotres, a picturesque and small mountain town.
DAY 5
PICOS DE EUROPA - ORIENTAL MASSIF
Hiking route through the eastern massif of Picos de Europa. Today we identify Picos de Europa with mountains, but at the time, it was a synonym for mining. We will visit a part of the eastern massif, learning about the mining past of the area, with impressive views of the mountain.
We will sleep in Sotres.
DAY 6
TURN BACK TO BILBAO
Return to Bilbao (other locations optional, but not before stopping to discover some of the wonders of the Asturian coast, such as its inland beaches or its cliff-lined coasts.
We will spend the night in Bilbao.
